Bluefield is the largest city near Coalwood and Welch.  There are actually two Bluefields, one in West Virginia and one in Virginia.  They share a common border.

The Craft Memorial Library downtown houses the Eastern Regional Coal Archives.

Bluefield is a major junction on the railroad.  Downtown is a large yard where you'll usually see a lot of coal trains and maintenance-of-way equipment.
